(Another section of correspondence with Miss Twist.)

My preferred method of casting spells was covered a bit in the post detailing my religion.  However, it seemed a fitting topic to expound upon.

Ceremonial magics, symbolism, and the use of psychology in my workings are keys to my preference.  When I am working, my tools are my best friends.  The preparation helps put me in the proper mindset for my working.  I believe that having the right frame of mind going into a working is paramount to it’s success.  Part of that mental preparation for me often includes a small bit of meditation, and a cleansing of sorts.

I like to work with others, but find it easier to complete more complicated tasks without the distraction that people bring.  Unlike when I’m trying to meditate, my cat seems to calm down and just watch what I’m doing.  This is, of course, assuming that she’s in the same room.  If she’s not, then she promptly either shows up or scratches at the closed door until I let her in.

I prefer to be organized, ready, and properly equipped for the undertaking I am about to complete.  This may include the proper research, books, tools, supplies, or various other implements.  I like to know the inner workings of whatever I happen to be trying to do.  Only when I’m in a pinch will I resort to something that I’ve only theorized rather than researched.

I essentially refuse to cast a spell over something with no attachment to myself.  I don’t particularly like casting spells for others, but will if they are completely incapable of it themselves.  Normally, I give them a push in the right direction, a few books to read, and a few words of advice and warning on my concept of curses (if that’s what they’re seeking).  I have been known to make talismans and sigils for others, though the latter are expected to be charged by the individual who needs them.

I suppose that this rambling can likely be summarized pretty quickly.  I prefer intent.  I prefer personal motive.  I prefer to know.  I prefer to cast most spells alone.
