I was asked how to charge a sigil, once you have it. For me, the process of creating the sigil oftentimes charges it to where it needs to be. Some people don’t have that luxury. Either the creative process (focusing, concentrating on the intent of the item) is not enough, or they are not the creater of the actual sigil.
There are other ways to accomplish the charging of a sigil. These all involve a building up of emotion and then forcing the focus of the climax of the event on the sigil, thereby charging the sigil with all of the energy. My favorite ways are: orgasm, pain, or simple energy work.
The orgasm one is the easiest to work up, but the hardest to accomplish correctly. Work yourself up to it, and at the point of climax, focus all of your energy and focus onto the sigil. Remember what it is supposed to do. Remember how it is supposed to work. It is important that you maintain the focus, or the energy will disperse rather than going into the sigil.
Pain is also another easy way to do this. If you fear the blade, then it will be all the better. The anticipation, the feeling of having to drag the blade across your skin can pull quite a bit of energy. At the first cut, the first real drag that breaks skin and causes blood… focus the pain and culmination of the anticipation onto the sigil. If it helps, in the aftermath, wipe some of the blood on the physical representation of the sigil.
The third method is entirely energy based. This requires you to have experience in basic energy work, wih the ability to gather and then force the energy into something else. Many times, visualization can be of a tremendous help with this. There are many books on energy work, and most of them have something of merit in it. If you’re not used to doing this kind of work, try collecting the energy in your hands, a maleable, almost physical substance. When you push, you’ll feel a slight resistance. Push too hard, and you push it back into yourself, absorbing some and scattering the rest. When I have energy in or on my hands, the tips of my fingers tickle and the rest of my hands feel a little heavy and fatigued. I’ll likely do a post on what I do for energy work soon. (If it’s requested, then sooner).
You should be able to tell when a sigil is charged. It will feel different, have an energy about it. Now, this may require replenishing and the like.

A proper banishment is a good idea also in most cases. I think of it as “cutting the taffy” from the spoon so that the energy retains its structure. This is critical if your sigil is used in such a way that it passes out of your immediate possession or control (such as in a talisman).

It is!
I generally include these within my daily rituals, so it is difficult to remember to put such basic things, such as starting or closing the ritual in the blog. Everyone does these in their own special way.
I also have a habit of keeping banishment sigils (created based on what I’m working with) for easy and quick use… in case something goes extremely south extremely quickly.
