So, the world is not as bright and sunny as I may like it. I usually just have to deal with that fact. There’s nothing strictly wrong with me not getting my way… Hell, for the most part, I could use some grounding. The thing that irritates me is when the world is just more inconvenient than it needs to be.

There are going to be roadblocks in our ability to get an apartment. Chris hasn’t held down a job for that long. My two years at my current employment will get us pretty far, but only so far. My rental history is good. My job security is… well, it’s alright. If we’re going to have two cats, then that is going to be another roadblock. We’re both young; though we’re not nearly as young as we were when we got our first places.

Most of the places I’m looking at are about 600sqft and cost about $500 bucks. The problem is, the better the deal gets, the further away from all signs of life the place is. We could easily afford the more expensive ones once Chris gets his new job. And, if I end up with a similar position at the same company, I could have my own version of it. We could save up quite a bit, if we were careful about it.

As far as the money things go, I wonder if I can push some of my OCD on Chris. Things have to be categorized, budgeted, and accounted for. He seems to go through life from one paycheck to the next, without the preliminary planning that goes into most of my large purchases. I can teach him. We’ll learn together to make a nest egg. My own finances have to be redone, as well. There are too many loopholes and whatnot in my plans. More money has to be saved. I understand this. Other financial dividends have to be allocated elsewhere. Other money needs to be spent propperly.

As far as I can see, we’ll need a good $1000 to $2000 to truly be set up and good for the move. Even that depends on who and what we can do about the moving issue. All of his stuff is still in boxes, but none of mine is. Moving expenses can be quite hefty. The idea of going through all of the house and sorting out which thing is whose makes my stomach turn. That will be an interesting argument, I’m sure.

I have to remember to start my 401k and dump money into it. At some point, that will become far more important. It is untaxed, which is lovely.
